Sometimes, all you need is a comfortable place to unwind after a busy day. Whether you’re staying in Brighton & Hove for work from Monday to Friday or looking for somewhere to settle while relocating, BlueHouse Lettings offers a welcoming space to make your stay feel a little more like home.
Flexible stays, cosy spaces, and room to settle into your next chapter. Here is what makes a place easy to unwind in, and how to check for it before you book.
What helps you switch off
After a long day, the last thing you want is to feel like a guest in someone else’s space. A few simple things make the difference.
- A comfortable sofa and a proper bed. You will use both every day. Ask for the real bed and seating arrangement, not just the number of guests.
- Warmth. Brighton evenings can be cool and damp for much of the year. Ask how the heating works and whether you control it.
- Soft, calm lighting. Photos often show bright, staged rooms. Look for lamps as well as ceiling lights.
- Quiet. A flat on a busy road or above a late-night venue feels different at 11pm. Ask which way the bedroom faces.
- A kitchen you can use. Cooking a simple meal is one of the easiest ways to wind down.
The point: you spend more waking hours in the flat than in any attraction. Choose it for how it feels at 8pm on a Wednesday, not how it looks in a photograph.
Unwinding Monday to Friday
The working week asks a lot. A good routine helps you recover between days.
- Leave work at the door. Put the laptop away in an evening, in a drawer or a bag, so the room switches back to home.
- Eat properly. Even a simple meal at the table feels better than eating at your desk.
- Get outside for twenty minutes. A walk, ideally along the seafront, resets your head before you go in for the evening.
- Keep a regular bedtime. It makes the next morning easier, particularly when you are away from your normal routine.
Unwinding while you relocate
Moving is tiring in its own way. There are viewings, paperwork and decisions to make, often all at once. Your temporary place becomes the one fixed point.
| During the move | What a good base gives you |
|---|---|
| Busy days of viewings | A calm place to come back to and think things through. |
| Uncertain dates | Flexibility, so you are not rushed into a decision. |
| Living out of bags | Space to unpack and feel settled, even briefly. |
| A new city | A comfortable start while you learn the area. |
If you are still deciding where to live, our guide to the Brighton and Hove neighbourhoods shows how each area feels.
Questions to ask before you book
These make sure the stay is as comfortable as it looks.
- What is the bed and sofa setup?
- How is the flat heated, and who controls it?
- Is the street quiet at night?
- What does the kitchen include?
- What is the total price, and what is included?
- How flexible are the dates if plans change?
You can see our furnished stays on our short-term stays page.
